A legal disclaimer

The information on Jourda Mental Hub — including our disorders library, medical conditions articles, counselling type descriptions, and any medication or supplement information — is provided for general education only. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment recommendation. It cannot replace consultation with a qualified mental health or medical professional who knows your circumstances.

Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on this website.

Jourda Mental Hub is an information and directory service. We do not provide emergency or crisis intervention services. We do not monitor the site in real time and cannot respond to emergencies.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 999, 112 or 911, or go to the nearest hospital. See our Crisis Support page for available helplines.

Our educational content describes signs and symptoms of mental health conditions. Recognising yourself in a description is not a diagnosis. Only a qualified professional can diagnose a mental health condition after proper assessment.

We publish general educational information about categories of medication and supplements. We do not prescribe, dispense, sell or facilitate the purchase of prescription medication. No medication should be started, stopped or changed except on the advice of a licensed prescriber.

Jourda Mental Hub lists professionals, facilities, institutions, organisations and support groups as a directory service. We are not a party to, and take no responsibility for, the services those listed parties provide.

  • We ask every professional and institution for registration and licensing details, and we verify them with the relevant body before publishing a verified listing. Listings show their verification status openly, including where verification is still pending.

  • Verification confirms registration status at the time of checking. It is not an endorsement, guarantee, or warranty of the quality, suitability or outcome of any service.

  • Counselling and psychology in Kenya are regulated by the Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB); medical and psychiatric practice by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). We encourage you to confirm a practitioner's current standing directly with the relevant board.

  • Listings may become out of date. If you believe a listing is inaccurate, please contact us.

Support groups listed on this platform are peer support, not therapy, and are not facilitated by Jourda Mental Hub unless expressly stated. Groups are run independently by their facilitators, who are responsible for their own conduct, confidentiality practices and safeguarding.

Appointments booked through this website are between you and the professional or facility providing the service. Fees, cancellation terms and the standard of care are the responsibility of that provider. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers; we do not store your payment card or mobile money credentials.

Products sold through our store are wellness and educational resources. Psychological assessment tools are intended for use by appropriately qualified professionals. They are not diagnostic instruments for personal use and must not be used to self-assess or assess others without proper training.

Course, institution and certification information is provided for general guidance. Entry requirements, fees and accreditation change; confirm details directly with the institution and the relevant regulator before making decisions.

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, Jourda Mental Hub, its owners and contributors accept no liability for any loss or harm arising from reliance on information published on this site, from services obtained through parties listed here, or from use of or inability to use this website.

Privacy Policy

Jourda Mental Hub ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect

You give us directly:

  • Contact forms — name, email, phone, and whatever you write in your message.

  • Bookings — name, contact details, the service booked, appointment time, and any notes you provide.

  • Store purchases — name, contact and delivery details, order history. Payment details go directly to our payment provider; we never see or store your card or M-Pesa credentials.

  • Institution applications — institution details, contact person, licence/registration number, regulator, services.

  • Member accounts (if you create one) — name, email, and profile information you choose to add.

  • Newsletter sign-up — your email address.

Collected automatically:

  • Standard technical data (IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring site) via our website platform and cookies, used to keep the site secure and understand general usage.

We do not ask you to submit clinical or health information through this website. Please don't share details of your condition, diagnosis or treatment in contact forms — discuss those directly and confidentially with a professional.

Sensitive personal data

Under the Data Protection Act, information about health, and information that reveals it, is sensitive personal data requiring extra care. Some interactions with this site — booking a counselling appointment, applying to join a support group for a specific condition or circumstance — can reveal something about your health or situation.

Where that happens we:

  • collect only what is necessary to provide the service;

  • rely on your explicit consent and the necessity of providing the service you asked for;

  • restrict access to staff who need it;

  • never publish it, sell it, or use it for advertising.

Why we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide the services you request

  • To manage appointments and process orders

  • To verify professional and institutional applications with the relevant regulatory bodies

  • To operate, secure and improve the website

  • To send newsletters only if you asked for them (unsubscribe any time)

  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects.

Who we share it with

  • Professionals or facilities you book with — the details needed to honour your appointment

  • Our website platform (Wix) — which hosts this site and stores submissions on our behalf

  • Payment providers — to process payments securely

  • Regulatory bodies (CPB, KMPDC and others) — only to verify applicants' registration, and only for applicants

  • Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose

Some providers process data outside Kenya. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards required by the Data Protection Act for cross-border transfers.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and form submissions:  2 years after last contact

  • Booking and order records: as required for business and tax purposes, typically  7 years

  • Applications from professionals/institutions: for the life of the listing, plus 2 years

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, submissions are stored in our platform's secured systems, and access is limited to authorised people. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used;

  • access the personal data we hold about you;

  • request correction of inaccurate data;

  • request deletion of your data where there is no lawful reason for us to keep it;

  • object to or request restriction of certain processing;

  • withdraw consent at any time (including unsubscribing from emails);

  • lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), Kenya.

To exercise any of these, contact [email]. We aim to respond within [e.g. 14 days].

Cookies

We use cookies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and understand general usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through our cookie banner. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact [email] and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be highlighted on the site.
